Data Mining and Information Retrieval Group
The research group Data Mining and Information Retrieval was founded at the chair(LS) of computer science VI of the University of Würzburg at the end of 2009. It is principally involved in the use and development of data-, web- and text-mining methods that allow the analysis of web 2.0 data in order to integrate the retrieved information into established web 2.0 systems or for use e.g. in the Semantic Web.
Another research topic is in the area of Information Retrieval, where the focus lays on tagging systems, also called social bookmarking-systems in our context. With BibSonomy the development of an own system is headed by Prof. Andreas Hotho since beginning of 2006. The integration of web 2.0 and ubiquitous systems renders new possibilities driven by the rapid evolution especially in the area of smart phones and opens up further research challenges.
